Doors

l am most definitely a door lover.  It appears that my Dad is just the same.  The next post in ‘Snapshots from a Tourist in Italy’ is all about doors.

The Doors of Umbria and Tuscany

For some reason, some of us are drawn to doors.

Some doors are very old, some look new. Some are well maintained, others appear to have had no maintenance at all.  Some hide residences, while others appear to be businesses and then there are the cathedrals. Being in the ‘centro storico’ (town centre), these doors open directly onto the street, even when seen through a passage.

Janine, over at Destination Umbria, has an eye for the unusual in street scenes, and has focussed on doors on occasion. Cathy has also been attracted to doors, since her time in Italy.

Inspired by these two young ladies, I have captured a selection of doors during our travels. This post is dedicated to Janine & Cathy.
