Occhio alla lingua–lo scontrino

My purse is always full of scontrini or receipts.

They have some interesting information on them, like the name of the business at the top, the business owner, the address, tax code number, details of your purchase and the date.

Do you keep your receipts or throw them away straight away?

Keeping then depends on their nature.  For example, we still have those with real souvenir value, e.g. a famous museum or train trip.  Those which have no valuable descriptions tend to be discarded (but not as litter, he hastens to add!)

Absolutely true Dad.  That’s why I kept the lovely tickets from the Ninfa garden.  They just accumulate so quickly, but naturally I throw them away as I should do :-)

I don’t MEAN to keep my receipts, but after hurriedly sorting through stacks of papers the other day, apparently I DO keep them. :-)

This made me smile Krista :-)

I never thought about it really, but I actually think of them as souvenirs.  The last three months worth are stored in a zip-lock bag.  They chronicle every single move I made in Italy. Your post made me nostalgic, just like those little pieces of paper.  xxo t

I can identify with that Toni.  I think that’s great that you’ve kept yours all together to remind you of all the experiences that you had.

Esatto Toni….I need to throw some away right now, but I’ll just wait a day or two….

Such a timely post for me, Cathy…Grazie!!! I should be throwing now stowing. But these scontrini become like little reminders of a coffee, a snack, a new pair of shoes… In Italy at least they have those attachments. Elsewhere I can’t wait to get rid of them. Not hard to work out why….

It most certainly is Janine.  Perhaps you should be throwing them away rather than keeping them, but I can most certainly understand if you keep them, at least for a little while.
