Trapped at home

All these photos were taken last weekend, when we were overwhelmed by the amount of snow. I grew up in Sydney and when we went on holidays we went on holidays to the north heading to warmer areas to find sunny weather, not colder.

We woke on Saturday morning to a lot of snow. In the road leading up to our house there was a tall mountain of snow. Essentially we were trapped up our road. This remained the case for all of Saturday. Some of the local council (and even the mayor of the town) made an appearance up our road on Saturday afternoon, but we were only dug out on Sunday morning.

These are some of the photos I took.

I was amazed by how many birds were around.

Our vegetable patch is under there somewhere….

The road leading towards town.

The snow that trapped us in.

The farmer who has some of his land across from us was in a bit of a situation with his sheep.  He had 300 litres of milk that was in danger of spoiling because the milk truck could not get through.  Also he had to make many trips to get water for his sheep to drink.

Once we were dug out the dramas did not end there.  Our gas for cooking finished and our pellet stove also gave up the ghost.  So Sunday evening we stayed with our in-laws.  Plenty of new experiences and dramas of living in the country…
